Partnership
| With the arrival of Civil Partnership
legislation, there is a solution to most partnership immigration
questions contained within this website. Now that UKLGIG has moved
it's focus towards asylum, it is
increasingly important that our limited resources are properly targeted,
and we urge you please to study these pages carefully as
a first step.
With a little extra time and patience, you are likely to find what you
need here. These pages have a wealth of information about immigration for
Unmarried Partners and
Civil Partners with
many links to the relevant parts of the UKBA website.
Some other possible options
are outlined should civil partnership seem premature
for you, as indeed it may be for many couples.
If after this, you still seem to have an
unanswered question, your next step should be to visit the
Forum.
Please note: The Monday
partnership information line
will CEASE after March 28th, 2011, due to the very small
number of partnership calls we now receive.

Unmarried Same-Sex Partners: In the context of this
website, unmarried partners are not legal partners, but comprise a specific group
in UK immigration law. The British government also currently
interprets "durable relationships" under EU law as being those who
qualify under the UK unmarried partners rules.
Civil Partners: Those who have registered, or
intend to register, their partnerships under the terms of the UK Civil
Partnership Act 2004. These are legal partnerships with many of
the same rights and obligations as marriage.
Freedom of Movement in Europe: Latest news from
Europe on treatment of same sex partners. Residency requirements in
the EU. Visits to Europe.
